Structural Engineer – Offshore Decommissioning (2025 Start)
Join Petrodec as a Structural Engineer and take an active role in shaping the future of offshore decommissioning. In this position, you will work on challenging engineering projects from concept studies to detailed execution, helping to deliver safe, innovative and sustainable offshore operations. You will be part of a skilled and international engineering team, contributing to the energy transition while developing advanced structural solutions for complex lift operations and offshore asset removal.
Role Purpose / Summary:
The structural engineer is responsible for the development of the concept, basic and detailed design of offshore decommissioning projects, including heavy lifting, as well as equipment and structural component design. The structural engineer prepares, performs and reports structural analyses, writes specifications and prepares input for the draftsmen and structural designers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform global structural analysis of fixed and floating structures
 - Hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis
 - Decommissioning concept development and analysis of structural design
 - Prepare design calculation reports
 - Prepare input for draftsmen and review of prepared drawings
 - Designing of equipment, lift points, grillage and sea-fastenings
 - Define the scope of work, design specifications for subcontractors and review of their reports and drawings
 - Developing of in-house tools and guidelines
 
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in offshore engineering, naval architecture or civil engineering
 - specialised in coastal engineering.
 - Experience min 3-5 years in an engineering office working on offshore structures and projects.
 - Proven involvement in decommissioning, topside removal, or load-in/load-out campaigns.
 - Finite element method analysis focusing on global structural analysis
 - Hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis
 - Experience with DNV SESAM software suite (global structural analysis, hydrostatic, and hydrodynamic analysis) is a plus
 - Experience with ABAQUS software (linear and non-linear structural analysis) is a plus
 - 2D and 3D drafting e.g. AutoCAD
 - MS Office
 - Fluency in English (written and spoken).
